FAQ Quick Links

Vaccination Requirements

  • All cats (indoor-only cats included) must be current on Feline Distemper (FVRCP) and Rabies. Cats that are more than 6 months expired on FVRCP must have received their latest vaccinations AT LEAST 72 hrs PRIOR to checking in.
  • Need vaccinations ASAP? There are two walk-in clinics that might be able to help in a pinch. Do a Google search for VetIQ inside the 8th St Walmart, or Hamlett Spay and Neuter Clinic in Colorado Springs to check their walk-in clinic hours.
  • You may email proof of vaccinations to info@kittycatology.com, fax them to us at 719-425-2593 or upload them to your customer profile.
  • If it is your personal preference not to vaccinate your cats, unfortunately we cannot accept them. Learn more about the contagious and sometimes deadly viruses that simple and affordable 1-year/3-year vaccinations can help to prevent here:  https://tinyurl.com/vet-cornell-edu-felinevaccines.

Deposit Requirements

  • A non-refundable $25 deposit per room is required to make a reservation.  Holiday deposits are $50 (see below for applicable holidays). Deposits are collected automatically using a card on file. That deposit amount will be applied to the total cost of your cat’s stay, with the remaining balance due at check out. If you do not wish to save a card on file, please call us at 719-602-6081 to provide payment, as reservations cannot be made without a paid deposit.

2022 HOLIDAY DATES: If any ONE night of your reservation includes the following dates, the non-refundable $50 holiday deposit will apply.

  • Thanksgiving 2022:  Nov 21st – 27th
  • Christmas / New Year’s 2022:  December 19th – January 2nd

Cancellations

BOARDING:

  • Cancelled reservations will result in forfeiture of the paid deposit.

GROOMING:

  • All grooming cancellations are subject to a minimum $25 cancellation fee.  Cancellations or reschedules with less than 48 hours notice, no-shows or cats arriving to appointments without proof of valid vaccinations may be charged the full amount of the scheduled service.

Reservations & Availability

  • We recommend calling first to confirm boarding availability before attempting to book online over any holiday, during summer months OR if you need same-day/last minute accommodations.  The same-day reservation fee (less than 24hrs notice) is $20.
  • For your planning purposes, we are typically sold out for Thanksgiving and Christmas boarding by early-mid October. Boarding during summer months is typically booked up 3-6 weeks in advance.
  • Please note, if we do not have space in the room size you’ve requested, we will place your cat in the next size up/down and inform you of the change. You can also request to be placed on a waitlist for your originally requested room size. In the case we do not have ANY space available, you’ll be placed on a waitlist.
  • Our grooming salon is typically booked out 3-6 weeks for standard appointments. In select cases, we can accommodate priority scheduling for severely neglected cats presenting an urgent medical need for grooming relief (ex: widespread pelting restricting natural movement or widespread unsanitary coat condition etc). We will assess eligibility based on photos.  Daycare is required for these special cases and vaccinations must be up to date.

What to Bring

Required:

  • Enough food for kitty’s entire stay. Sudden diet changes can be tough for kitties so please provide food from home and detailed feeding instructions on your cat’s profile.  Facility provided food is $4 per day.
  • Litter box and litter for stays of 2 nights or less (our alternative to instituting a 2-night minimum stay)

Recommended:

  • Kitty’s favorite bed or blanket from home (smells like home = good!)
  • Small scratching post
  • A shirt worn by kitty’s favorite human
  • Toys (try to avoid tiny toys as they often get swatted outside their room under the door)
  • Treats! An excellent tool to help us earn their trust
  • That stash of plastic grocery bags at your house 🙂 We scoop a lot of poop and we could sure use them!

Not Recommended:

  • Food bowls from home, unless absolutely necessary. *We especially ask you leave your stainless steel bowls at home, as they’re too easy to get mixed up with ours.
  • Large cat trees unless you’re booked in a Purrfessor’s Office or Purrsidential Suite
  • Large area rugs that cover the entire floor

Medication

  • Per our licensing requirements, all prescription meds must be labeled with the pharmacy sticker displaying the cat’s name, guardian name, prescribing veterinarian name, medication name and dosage instructions.  See our Pricing tab for medication administration fees.
  • CAT PRO TIP: Transdermal gels are a cat’s best friend. Instead of pill or liquid form, some medications can be compounded into a lotion that you rub inside kitty’s ear, meaning less stress for everyone. Ask your veterinarian if transdermal is an option for you.

Diabetic Cats & Insulin

  • Please mark syringes with the proper dosage using a permanent marker or piece of colored tape with an arrow pointing to the correct line.
  • Note that it is very common for cats to have low-to-no appetite when they are stressed. We monitor food intake very closely in our diabetic cats, and will test glucose levels before administering insulin if there is any suspicion they have not eaten enough.
  • Please pack & transport your cat’s insulin with an ice pack. We’ll keep it in our refrigerator at all times.
  • Bring your sharps container from home and label it with your cat’s name.
  • Since we do not have overnight care/monitoring, we administer insulin at 7am and 7pm. We recommend transitioning them to a similar schedule at least 2 weeks prior to the start of their stay.

Health Requirements

  • All cats must be believed by their humans to be symptom free at the time of check in, and not to have had exposure to any communicable diseases within a 30-day period prior to check-in. Common symptoms of contagious illness are sneezing, cough, clear or green/yellow nasal discharge, ocular discharge, gagging, fever, lethargy and/or loss of or decreased appetite.
  • If your cat is found to have any of the above symptoms, we may move them into our  isolation room to protect against spread  in the facility. The Isolation Fee is $7 per day.

While we are experienced with medicating cats of varying difficulty and recognizing health-related signs and/or behaviors that may be of concern, we are NOT a veterinary clinic and we do not veterinarians on staff. If your kitty has a condition that you believe should be monitored by veterinary/medical staff, here is a list of  local clinics that also provide cat boarding:

  • Carefree Cats Veterinary (nice, large cat-only enclosures)
  • Fox Run Veterinary (newly opened in Monument, spacious cat-only enclosures)
  • Northwest Animal Hospital (small cat-only boarding area separated from dogs, a few larger enclosures)
  • Mountain Shadows Veterinary (cat-only boarding with some windows, nice and quiet)

Our Cleaning Protocols

We take your cat’s health and wellness seriously and understand that any high-density animal environment will cary a risk of communicable viruses. We take pride in the cleanliness of our facility and as such, we follow strict cleaning and sanitizing protocols to minimize that risk for all of our resident cats.

  • After a room is vacated, everything that didn’t go home (typically litter boxes and food bowls) are cleared out and the space is cleaned from floor to ceiling. In a separate step using fresh rags, the same surfaces are sanitized with a veterinary-specific sanitizer solution that is then allowed to air dry. Next, we curtain off the room and hit it with a UV light before prepping it with a sanitized litter box and fresh litter for the next cat family.
  • If you see a smiling staff member at reception, know that behind the scenes they were probably just cleaning their hearts out 🙂

Military Discount

  • We offer 10% off to members and dependents on Active Duty, Reserve or Guard, as well as 20 year Retirees. Valid CAC, dependent or Retiree ID Card required.

Long Term Stays

  • We offer discounts for stays of 30 consecutive days or longer. Prepayment of the first month is required to book at a discounted rate.
  • Nightly rate factors include the number of cats, room size, medication charges, length of stay and the time of year. Please email us with the details of your stay for a customized quote.
  • The agreed upon rate is all inclusive and therefore cannot be combined with any other offers or discounts. Discounts exclude the weeks surrounding Thanksgiving and Christmas, when applicable.

Airport Transportation

  • We do not offer transportation to/from airports, but have worked with several pet transport companies to get kitties settled at Catology ahead of their owner’s travel. For cats inbound from DIA or COS airports, we highly recommend City Kitty Sitter (Denver based, 720-320-3902) or Pet Relocator (locally owned and operated branch phone number is 719-368-8747 ext. 101).
